Board statement: new CEO appointed

The No to Violence Board is thrilled to announce Phillip Ripper as the organisation’s incoming CEO, commencing formally on Monday September 18.

Phillip brings to No to Violence 19 years’ experience as CEO and nearly 30 years of broader executive experience across multiple community organisations. Most recently, he was the CEO of Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health where he led more than 380 staff and volunteers to deliver 43 different services benefiting thousands of people. Other key leadership roles include: CEO of Sunbury, Knox Community Health and Action for Community Living, as well as executive roles at Plenty Valley Community Health and Merri Health.

From a field of many outstanding candidates, Phillip stood out with his deep-seated passion for NTV’s mission, clear alignment to our values, extensive CEO and executive experience, strong strategic mindset, deep experience managing complexity, and leadership style focussed on culture, listening and diversity. He holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (psychology), an MBA with Deans Commendation and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Phillip comes with a clear passion and commitment to ending male family violence. He has overseen innovative family violence service developments, including Men’s Behaviour Change programs as well as prevention and community awareness initiatives.

“Having worked in NTV member organisations for many years, I know the impact that our work has on the lives of victim survivors and men who use violence,” Mr Ripper said.

“I continue the determined view of Jacqui Watt, that ‘Family Violence effects everyone, but it starts with men and must end with men’.”

Mr Ripper added, “I am incredibly excited and honoured to be offered the opportunity to lead this important organisation at this time. I am deeply committed to building upon the organisation’s strong foundation to hold men accountable and support behaviour change that keeps women and children safe.”

With this new chapter ahead, the NTV Board looks forward to working with its members, partners and the broader community as we continue to strive towards a world free from male violence.
