Free remote training for engaging with men who use violence

During the current pandemic, many services are moving to an online or remote working environment. No to Violence is providing free training to provide new skills for experienced practitioners who are currently working directly with men who use family violence. 

This training will support men’s behaviour change practitioners and front line workers across the community sector who are working online, telephone counsellors, or those working one-on-one using individual counselling approaches by telephone.

The training is designed to refresh and skill practitioners in de-escalation techniques to reduce harm within the COVID-19 context. The Remote Working Toolkit uses specialist engagement and holding strategies for the purpose of de-escalation, tools for emotional regulation and safety and accountability planning with men using family violence. 

By undertaking this training, you will learn:  

  • To unpack the COVID context in men’s family violence including the additional tactics used during COVID-19 that increase risk ​
  • Develop practice skills through using a set of Discussion Tools as additional interventions with men using family violence​
  • Engage in the conversations to help men to make sense of their behaviour, and;​
  • Connect men to their capacity to develop strategies that establish safety for families, take responsibility and connect to supportive pathways that assist with behavioural change
