As the third Ashes Test begins in Adelaide, No to Violence is taking its Change Is Your Call campaign to cricket audiences, urging men to take the lead in creating safer homes and communities through its Change Is Your Call campaign.
The Christmas and end-of-year period can be a time to reconnect and celebrate, but it can also bring extra pressures. By choosing to seek help early whether it’s managing stress, alcohol use, or relationship challenges, men can take positive steps to keep their families safe and strong. Change starts with a call, and every call is a commitment to respect and wellbeing.
According to data provided to South Australia’s Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence, police respond to around 100 domestic abuse incidents every day, totalling an estimated 36,500 incidents each year These figures represent only a fraction of the true scale of family violence, with most incidents never reported to police.
No to Violence is encouraging men to use this period as an opportunity to reflect, seek support and make safer choices.
To reach men at this time, No to Violence’s Change Is Your Call campaign will run during the South Australian Test, bringing messages of accountability and help-seeking directly to audiences across the country.
“Sport has enormous cultural influence in Australia, and cricket in particular has broad appeal to men across cultures, ages, communities and social backgrounds,” said Phillip Ripper, CEO of No to Violence.
“By engaging with cricket audiences this holiday season, we’re reaching men where they are, at a time when the conversation about respect, accountability and change matters most”.
“Our message is simple: Change is your call. Help is available, and taking responsibility is the first step”, says Mr Ripper.
