As an organisation that exists to keep women, children, and families safe from harm, No to Violence joins the call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
We condemn all war and the horrific impact it has on women, children, and communities. Violence, whether employed by individuals or states, can never be the solution. Through our work, we have seen firsthand that the use of violence only leads to more violence, trapping all involved in an endless cycle of retaliation and destruction.
The intensity and brutality of the conflict in Gaza calls on all of us to speak up for peace. In just four months, more than 29,000 Palestinians have been killed, including more than 12,300 children and 8,400 women. At least 69,000 people have been injured with more than 7,000 missing. More than 70% of Gaza’s homes have been destroyed or damaged, and over 85% of the population has been forcibly displaced. Attacks on critical civilian infrastructure like schools and hospitals have forced healthcare, education and welfare systems to the brink, rendering Gaza virtually uninhabitable.
These apparent violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, along with the increasing evidence of atrocity crimes being committed in Gaza, underscore the urgent need for a lasting peaceful solution. With each passing day, this war inflicts further trauma, heartache, and pain on countless innocent civilians, the ripple effects of which will be felt for generations to come.
No to Violence joins hundreds of charities, United Nations officials, and more than 153 states in calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire between the State of Israel and Hamas as well as the unconditional release of all hostages.
