Parliamentary Inquiry into Domestic Violence

On 31 May 2020, the Commonwealth Minister for Families and Social Services and Minister for Women released the terms of reference for a new inquiry into domestic violence.

No to Violence previously responded to the early closure of the Senate Inquiry this year in correspondence to Senator Rex Patrick, noting the importance of considering and acting on the plethora of reports and inquiries in recent months. We are also keen to drive the conversation to what the family and domestic violence system will look like in the future, including the next National Plan.

It is important that we balance how busy we are as a sector (particular during these challenging times) and getting the insights from No to Violence members. We are looking to facilitate shorter conversations across the member drop ins (rather than another survey). We will advise shortly when these discussions will happen. If you have any insights you want to bring to the table or discuss, please contact: communications@ntv.org.au
