NTV welcomes new package of measures to address family violence in Victoria

30 May 2024

NTV welcomes the new package of measures to address family violence in Victoria announced this morning by Premier Jacinta Allan: Changing Laws And Culture To Save Women’s Lives | Premier of Victoria

The package offers a welcome new suite of interventions and addresses important problems in the family and sexual violence system in Victoria.

“The focus on housing is welcome for the whole family violence sector – for those working with victim survivors and those working with people using violence,” said No to Violence CEO Phillip Ripper.

“We especially welcome a nation-leading study on perpetration that will allow us to better understand pathways into using violence and the most effective interventions to stop family violence. This needs to be aligned with work happening already and other states’ research work to ensure this investment is well spent.”

“Alongside an uplift in case management to ensure change is embedded and ensure victim-survivors are kept safe, these initiatives are an important step on the road to ending men’s use of family violence.”
