The Unite Against Family Violence campaign is asking all political parties to unite and commit to long-term support for funding the family violence reforms.
For years, family violence was hidden behind closed doors and sat on the sidelines of the government’s agenda.
In 2014, Victoria held a groundbreaking Royal Commission into Family Violence, which evaluated hundreds of submissions from all over our community and critiqued how we respond to family violence.
No other jurisdiction in the world has had the benefit of such an endeavour.
The Royal Commission delivered us a world-first roadmap with 227 recommendations for how we can build a system that will keep women and children safe and prevent violence before it begins.
We should be proud of how far Victoria has come in ending family violence, but the Royal Commission’s roadmap was just the beginning.
