How the Men’s Accommodation and Counselling Service can support your work
Do you work with men in Victoria who are excluded from the family home due to their use of violent and/or abusive behaviour?
Facilitated by Men’s Referral Service’s qualified counsellors and The Salvation Army, the Men’s Accommodation and Counselling Service (MACS) provides up to 14 night’s crisis accommodation for men who are interested in engaging in counselling support to address their behaviour.
MACS works with men in Victoria who have been excluded from the home via a Family Violence Intervention Order or Family Violence Safety Notice to support them to change their behaviour while also seeking longer term accommodation away from the family home.
Accommodation and counselling over 14 nights
MACS is a multi-session family violence telephone counselling and accommodation support service for up to 14 nights for men in Victoria who are willing to engage in respectful conversation around their use of family violence and its impact on family members.
Counselling sessions are focussed on supporting men to reflect on their use of violence, explore personal accountability, learn new strategies to support non-violent relationships and build safe families.
A large focus of the program is also to support men to plan the next steps in their change journey including sourcing longer term accommodation.
