Following announcements made by the Victorian Government, No to Violence would like to congratulate incoming Ministers and thank Natalie Hutchins MP for her leadership and dedication across the Women and Prevention of Family Violence portfolios and wish her well as she retires from Parliament.
Her portfolios have been reallocated on an interim basis, with responsibilities shared between Mary-Anne Thomas MP (Minister for Health and Ambulance Services) and Ingrid Stitt MP (Minister for Mental Health, Ageing and Multicultural Affairs), as Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence respectively.
Tim Richardson MP has also been allocated additional supporting roles, becoming Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Health and Wellbeing and Parliamentary Secretary for Violence Reduction, alongside his existing role as Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Behaviour Change and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier.
The Treaty portfolio has moved to Ros Spence MP, and Government Services to Danny Pearson MP. No to Violence has been advised that this interim reshuffle is expected to be followed by a more substantial Cabinet reshuffle ahead of the state election.
We also note the appointment of Tracy Beaton as the new Commissioner for Children and Young People, bringing strong clinical and academic expertise in mental health and child protection.
No to Violence will continue engaging with Ministers and parliamentary office holders to support continued investment, bipartisan leadership and strong system accountability to prevent and respond to family violence in Victoria.
